An architect and urban designer by trade, Justin has been involved with over forty design charrettes throughout the US and abroad, and has also taught architectural design at the University of Miami. His extensive work with form-based codes, master plans, and architectural design guidelines has helped many municipalities and developers ensure appropriate and sustainable growth. Having previously written form-based codes as a consultant, and administering one for local government, he has a unique understanding of form-based code implementation. Justin has contributed to the LEED-ND (Neighborhood Development) rating system, as well as Street Design: The Secret to Great Cities and Towns, by Victor Dover and John Massengale (2013), and Suburban Remix, by Jason Beske and David Dixon (2018). Before joining Principle, Justin served as the Chief Architect and Urban Designer for Arlington County, Virginia. Prior to 2013, he was a project director at the town planning firm Dover, Kohl & Partners, and a designer with Duany, Plater-Zyberk & Company.
Justin is a registered architect in New Hampshire and Florida, and received his BA in Architecture from Lehigh University and two Master’s degrees from the University of Miami in Architecture and Urban Design.
